Acclaimed
actress Camryn Manheim won both an Emmy Award® for Outstanding
Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe
for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series (Drama),
in 1999, for her depiction of impassioned attorney Ellenor
Frutt. In the same year, she was also named one of the "Most
Intriguing People of the Year" by People magazine,
one of the "Most Fascinating Women of the Year"
by Ladies Home Journal, and one of Glamour magazine's "Women
of the Year."
Raised in the Midwest and Southern California, Manheim is
the daughter of outspoken, politically aware parents who
passed their activism on to all of their children. She works
assiduously for the rights of the disabled, particularly
the deaf, and is a vocal and public supporter of the size
acceptance movement. Her own journey to self-acceptance
is documented in her best-selling book, Wake Up, I'm Fat!,
which was a New York Times best-seller.

She has guest-starred on a number of television series,
including Chicago Hope, Law & Order, and Touched By
an Angel. She also appeared in the made-for-television movie
The Loretta Claiborne Story and the miniseries The 10th
Kingdom, in which she played Snow White.
Manheim made her producorial debut in the ABC television
movie The Last Laugh, a contemporary Cyrano de Bergerac
story. She also executive produced and starred in the ABC
telefilm Kiss My Act.
Her motion picture credits include Romy and Michelle's High
School Reunion, Jeffrey, The Road to Wellville, Wide Awake,
Mercury Rising, Happiness, and What Planet Are You From?
In New York City, which she calls home, Manheim can often
be seen riding her Honda CB650 motorcycle in traffic, no
matter what the weather. She is also a sign language interpreter
and holds an MFA from New York University, where she currently
guest teaches.
