This
tiny, homuncular supporting player won an Oscar for playing
a man in The Year of Living Dangerously (1983), one of her
earliest films. (And cer tainly her best to date, incidentally.)
The problem with accomplishing such a feat: How does one
top it? If that's impossible, it's no fault of Hunt's; she's
been highly effective-albeit used mainly for novelty value-in
such films as Popeye (1980), Dune (1984), Silverado (1985),
and Kindergarten Cop (1990). Other credits include The Bostonians
(1984) and Eleni (1985). She raised eyebrows with a superb
characterization of Alice B. Toklas in Waiting for the Moon
(1987), an otherwise ponderous and uninteresting film. She
recently played the Lotte Lenya-inspired villainess in If
Looks Could Kill (1991). Other recent credits include Rain
Without Thunder, Twenty Bucks, Younger and Younger (1993);
Ready to Wear/Pràt-êPorter (1994), and Pocahontas
(1995, voice only); she also starred in the shortlived science-fiction
TV series "Space Rangers" (1992).
